A record-setting crowd of 108,713 jammed into Cowboys Stadium Sunday to watch the NBA Eastern Conference
squeak out a 141-139 victory over the West.
Originally designed and listed to support a capacity of 35,000 fans for basketball and 80,000 for football, most of the fans had to watch the game on the giant screen to even have a clue what was happening on the court.
This game went down to the final seconds and ironically it was Dallas native Chris Bosh who scored the winning points, sinking free throws with just five seconds left.
The West got one more possession but Carmelo Anthony, who had a game-high 27 for the West, bounced a 3-pointer off the rim at the buzzer that would have won it.
Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade led the East with 28 points and 11 assists took home the MVP honors.
“I’ve had a little luck in Dallas. Of course, 2006 is very, very memorable, something I dreamed of doing for a long time, winning the NBA championship and I was lucky enough and blessed enough to win the MVP there,” Wade said. “To come and do it again is special.”
Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James added 25 for the East and was in awe of the size of the crowd.
“To be in front of 108,000 fans, that was actually what it was, that was not a false number. You could look up in the stands, and there was not a seat open,” said James. “To be part of history is something that you always wish and dream for.”
The players spent their shoot-around trying to adjust to the gigantic stadium background which is so different from the standard size arenas they normally play in.

NEW YORK – The results of the fan balloting are in for the NBA All-Star game and this year like most other years
reminds us how the best or most deserving players do not always make it to the game.
Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson was voted to start for the Eastern Conference alongside Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett. Garnett has missed a good portion of the season and A.I. well, we know all about A.I.
He’s only played in 19 games and is having the worst season in his career averaging just 14.8 point a game for the 76ers.
“I just want to thank everybody for their support this season and it’s an honor that the fans have voted me into the All-Star Game as a starter,” said Iverson. “The fans are who make us and make the NBA so popular. This year is even more special because I’ll be representing a city and fans that I love and a team that has been such a big part of my life throughout my career.”
Other starters for the East are Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade, Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard and Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James.
James became the first player to obtain 2.5 million votes three times and will start for the East for the sixth time in his career.
“The fans still love and see what I do every night and they appreciate it, and I appreciate them for electing me as an All-Star starter,” said James. “It’s still special.”
Steve Nash and Tim Duncan also earned enough votes to gain starting positions for the Western Conference. They will be joined by Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, Phoenix center Amare Stoudemire and Denver forward Carmelo Anthony.
The reserves will be chosen by votes from the head coaches in each conference and will be announced on Thursday.
The game will be played on Feb. 14 game at Cowboys Stadium where a record crowd of 80,000 are expected to see the game.

The New York Giants ruined the Dallas Cowboys big bash at the opening game in the new Cowboys Stadium Sunday
night defeating the ‘Boys 33-31.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones showed off the $1.2 billion structure to a raucous crowd of over 105,000 that included several past Cowboy greats, LeBron James and George W. Bush.
The stadium lived up to much of it’s hype with its seven-story high state-of-the-art television screen and dancing towers for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders; the only thing missing was a win.
Between three interceptions thrown by Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Giants QB Eli Manning passed for 330 yards, 284of them to wideouts Mario Manningham and Steve Smith. Manning then orchestrated a near-flawless final drive from his own end to set the stage for placekicker Lawrence Tynes to connect for a 37-yard game-winning kick, silencing the raucous crowd as the final seconds ticked off the clock.
In upsets Sunday, Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets beat the New England Patriots 16-9, the Chicago Bears upended the Super Bowl Champions Pittsburgh Steelers 17-14 on a last-second field goal and the Cincinnati Bengals upset the Green Bay Packers 31-24 at Lambeau Field in a game that included Ochocinco catching a TD pass and performing the Lambeau Leap.
