NHL Logo Ripped Off By U.S. Senate Candidate

The NHL needs all the P.R. it can get and it took a blunder by a U.S. Senate candidate to get it for them this week. Marc Delphine who is running for a U.S. Senate seat in Oregon accepted a ‘free’ logo from a volunteer and placed it on his website. Turns out the logo is a trademarked piece belonging to the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets.

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Atlanta Thrashers have signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Chris Chelios, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell. Chelios, 48, has appeared in 44 games with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League this season, recording 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) while ranking second in the league with a plus-35 rating.

VANCOUVER , B.C. - The surprise victory by the United States men’s hockey team over heavily favored Canada (5-3) has sent shock waves through the host country. In the U.S. there was euphoria where patriotism drove the ratings up past viewership for regular season as well as playoff games in the NHL (8.2 million viewers). It even beat game seven of the 2009 NHL Stanley Cup Finals.
