MINNESOTA – Brett Favre entered Sunday’s playoff game knowing he had lost all three prior playoff games against the Dallas Cowboys in his career including in 1995 when he and the Green Bay Packers suffered a 38-27 defeat at the hands of Troy Aikman and Dallas. Sunday would be different as Favre led his Minnesota Vikings to an easy 34-3 victory at the Metrodome.

WASHINGTON – Washington Wizards player Gilbert Arenas pleaded guilty Friday for carrying a pistol without a license in D.C. That charge is a felony and the player awaits to see what effect the felony conviction will have on his personal life and NBA career.

Mark McGwire decided to come clean and finally admitted using steroids throughout his career, including the year he broke the single-season home run record. He said he first used steroids between the 1989 and 1990 seasons, after helping the Oakland Athletics to a World Series sweep when he and Jose Canseco formed the Bash Brothers.

FOXBOROUGH, MA. – The New England Patriots returned to the postseason for the first time since losing to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl two years ago, and suffered another defeat this time at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens. ARLINGTON, TX. – The Dallas Cowboys responded to last week’s blowout over the Philadelphia Eagles with another lopsided win, 34-14. The Cowboys dominated from the start with the Eagles offense only taking 18 snaps and gaining 140 yards total offense in the first half. Michael Vick’s longest touchdown pass of his career (76 yards) tied the game 7-7 but after that is was all Dallas.

Andre Dawson finally survived the controversial Hall of Fame voting procedure and will join other baseball greats in Cooperstown. Many felt the slugger, who played 11 seasons with the Montreal Expos and another 10 with the Chicago Cubs, should have been voted in years ago but despite being one of just three major leaguers to steal over 300 bases and hit over 400 homers, Dawson had to endure a nine-year wait to be elected.
