ABOUT THE KENTUCKY DERBY:

Taking place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky every year on the first Saturday in May, the Kentucky Derby is referred to as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.”

This year’s 2010 Kentucky Derby race is scheduled to be televised live on NBC at 6:24pm ET.

Normally a crowd of more than 150,000 people will jam the stands for this race to see the cream of the crop compete in this first leg of the Triple Crown.

Unless you have personally witnessed this event live, you may not understand the adrenaline that fills the air when the gates open and the 3-year-old thoroughbreds start kicking up the dirt around the 1 ¼ mile track.
