A 22-year-old student at the University of Virginia is behind bars and booked for first-degree murder after admitting
getting into a physical confrontation with a female student who was later found dead.
George Huguely, a UVA lacrosse player, is accused of killing UVA female lacrosse player, 22-year-old Yeardley Love, a senior from Cockeysville, Maryland.
Both of these students were preparing to graduate in a few weeks then this tragedy struck.
According to police, Ms. Love’s roommate called authorities Monday at 2:15 a.m. ET voicing concern that Love may have had an alcohol overdose. After responding to the call, police and medical personnel discovered the more serious results.
Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said:
“It was quickly apparent to them that this young lady was the victim of something far worse,”
He went on to say the two were in a relationship at some point but refused to describe in detail, the extent of Love’s injuries.
Huguely, mugshot shown above, is from Chevy Chase, Maryland. He opted to not place a plea at Tuesday’s bond hearing so will be held without bond until his next court appearance.
