It took several days but Michael Phelps the ‘Baltimore Bullet’ fell victim to a British tabloid and is beginning to feel the repercussions of hitting a bong in public when you are a public figure and role model representing huge corporations.Phelps earns our Slap-of-the-Week after he was dropped by one of his main sponsors, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes then later the same day USA Swimming jumped onto the dog pile, bitch-slapping the youngster with a three month suspension.

Most close to Phelps are supporting him and do not expect the incident to affect his swimming career long-term but hopefully for Phelps, Kellogg’s response to the incident is not the beginning of a major snowball effect and the dog pile doesn’t get big enough to crush his pocketbook.

Phelps’ bong-hit seen around the world may end up being the most expensive toke ever taken and after the 23-year-old star takes out the calculator and does the math, he may want to consider trading in the bong for a hookah.
